How can I put on fat in a healthy way?

S asked:

Hey,

I want to put on fat, but I want to put on the healthy type of fat. My body fat percentage is 6% so its kind of important I get some fat in my diet.

Problem is, I’m very health conscious and I don’t want to consume unhealthy food (with salt etc) just to put on weight. Is there a way I can put on healthy fat?

Thanks,

Steven

Monounsaturated fat. It’s good for your heart and pretty much the only healthy fat

    Need to lose weight?

Just keep eating healty fooods, but eat over your daily requirement. 3500 calories = 1lb. So if your daily requirement is 2000, you need to eat 2500 per day minimum.

Remember your base requirement does not take into account ANY activity. So you need to add that back in.

You’ll want to shoot for about 2lbs of weight gain per week. If you exercise, get most of your calories from protein. Like 1g per pound of bosyweight each day. This will help build lean muscle mass.

If you do not see weight gain using the above, eat more calories. If you are still having problems, maybe you’re just a hard gainer like me. I had to resort to using mass gainers. Not pills, the old fashioned kind like Optimum Serious Mass.
