Well I’m a vegetarian and the big reasons its healthier is that a lot of vegetarians tend to eat lower fat stuff, eat less cholesterol, get more fiber, and eating veggies can help prevent cancer and lots of other stuff. The health risks are mostly not eating enough protein, omega 3’s, calcium, and other things we don’t really think about needing.
I don’t know that there any benefits of eating meat other then it tastes good and has protein and omega 3’s.
The risks of eating meat are cancer, heart disease, high cholesterol, and meat eaters tend to weigh more then vegetarians which can cause all sorts of health problems.
Animals eat a lot of grain and that grain could be better used if was just eaten by people because they can digest it better then cows can so grain waste is an issue.
I’ve heard that growing soy beans hurts the environment but I don’t remember why.
As for sustainable development we are going to reach a point where we won’t be able to feed and raise enough animals to feed all the meat eaters in the U.S.
